Announcing the new Pugwash-Carnegie Fellow for Science and Security

Pugwash is delighted to announce that Nicolas Ayala Arboleda has joined Pugwash’s staff as the first Pugwash-Carnegie Fellow for Science and Security. He will work across the Science and Security Programme, providing support to the Pugwash-Carnegie project on the Effects of a Nuclear War as well the broader work on Disruptive Technologies and Strategic Stability, and contribute to our research, policy engagement, and international dialogue on reducing global security risks.

Welcoming Nicolas, Secretary General Karen Hallberg said, “I’m so thrilled that we can bring Nicolas more formally into the Pugwash family. He will help us to expand our portfolio of work at the intersection of science and policy and drive forward work on the many international challenges facing global security in an era of rapid technological change.”

Hallberg added, “I also take the opportunity to thank the Andrew Carnegie Foundation for its support of Pugwash. This position, together with the additional Fellows we expect to appoint in the future, represents an important investment in the next generation. It will help cultivate expertise in nuclear policy and emerging technologies, while strengthening our collective capacity to reduce global risks and advance international peace and security.”
