Pugwash President speaks at Vietnam conference on Science, Ethics, and Human Development

At the invitation of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) the President of Pugwash, Ambassador Sergio Duarte, attended the Science, Ethics and Human Development Conference held in Quy Nohn, Vietnam, on September 13-15 2022. The Conference was chaired by Dr. Jean Trant Than Van and Dr. Michel Spiro, President of the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development. On September 14 the President of Pugwash delivered a keynote speech on “Disarmament and Ethics” and participated in a round table discussion on “Science, Peace and Disarmament”, together with Dr. Karen Hallberg, member of Pugwash Council. Among other topics discussed at the Conference were “Science and policymaking”, “Environment and biodiversity”, “Sustainability and resource”, “Science and Ethics” and “Emergent technologies.”
