On 4 June 2019 Dr Tom Sauer was awarded the Rotary Alumni Global Service Award at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany. This award recognizes an outstanding Rotary alumni whose career, activities, and service to humanity illustrate the importance of Rotary’s programs. Tom Sauer had received a Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship in 1997-1998 which brought him to the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. This year, out of 350,000 alumni he was selected for the Award for his engagement as a scientist to nuclear disarmament. He will receive the award at the annual Rotary International Convention that this year takes place in Hamburg.
