the device tested by DPRK has been their most powerful ever. DPRK is in continuing defiance of resolutions by the United Nations Security Council. The escalation of hostile actions and of verbal threats and counter-threats causes concern worldwide and makes it increasingly difficult to promote a negotiated solution to the grave situation in the Korean Peninsula, with immediate negative reflections on the security of the East Asian region as a whole. Pugwash once again calls on all parties directly involved to refrain from any acts that may further aggravate tension and instead to engage in the promotion of understanding in order to ensure dialogue and cooperation as the only way to achieve constructive and permanent results.
