The global Pugwash community is comprised of hundreds of individuals committed to the mission and objectives of Pugwash. The Pugwash network stays in touch via its international activities as well as the National Groups in dozens of countries and the participation of the next generation through the International Student/Young Pugwash network.
National and Regional Pugwash Groups
National Pugwash Groups play a pivotal role in connecting local activities of committed individuals and experts to the broader international network of Pugwash. There are more than 50 National Pugwash Groups around the world, each organized independently, which undertake their own activities according to the salience of different issues in their national context and often in collaboration at a regional level. As the Pugwash network of scientists and policy specialists has spread over the years, so too has the Pugwash agenda broadened to include vitally important issues of energy, environment, health, food security and international scientific cooperation that have fundamental impacts on the security and well-being of the world’s peoples.

International Student/Young Pugwash
The International Student/Young Pugwash (ISYP) movement, inaugurated in 1979, isa global and interdisciplinary network of students and young professionals concernedwith the nexus of science, ethics, and security. The ISYP is organizationally separatefrom Pugwash and pursues its own agenda and goals. At the same time, the ISYPhelps introduce younger scientists and scholars to the principles and objectives ofPugwash through their active participation in Pugwash activities, workshops, and theintenational conferences. Engagement and training of the younger generation ininternational policy dialogue is a critical component of Pugwash’s work.
