Sergey Batsanov is a former Soviet, then Russian, negotiator on wide range of arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. In 1989-93 he represented his country in the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and became one of the key authors of the Chemical Weapons Convention. During 1993-2004 he worked as a member of the Senior Management team of the OPCW. Currently in retirement, he holds the position of the Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the Cross-Disciplinary Center for Global Biosecurity Studies (St. Petersburg State University) and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Center for Energy and Security Studies (Moscow).
