Amitabh Mattoo is Dean of the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and Distinguished Chair of Excellence in India’s Strategic Culture at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. A former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, he has also served on India’s National Security Advisory Board and as an advisor to the Chief Ministers of Jammu & Kashmir with Cabinet rank. He also serves as Honorary Professor, Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne. Awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, for his contributions to education and public affairs, he is an expert on nuclear arms control, effects of Nuclear War and the NPT. He has long been engaged in dialogue, conflict resolution, and Track-II diplomacy initiatives across South Asia and beyond, and is deeply interested in AI and disruptive technologies.
