Council member Karen Hallberg wins prestigious award

14 February 2019: Pugwash Council Member Prof. Karen Hallberg of Argentina was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO Prize for Women in Science for Physics, which honors outstanding women scientists all over the world for their achievements and for the excellence of their research. Prof. Hallberg is this years‘ recipient for Latin America.

She is a professor at the Balseiro Institute and Research Director at the Bariloche Atomic Center, National Atomic Energy Agency and National Research Council, Argentina. The L’Oréal-UNESCO award is given to women scientists who distinguish themselves  in the fields of Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The 21st edition of the Award coincides with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
