“Pugwash has been invaluable to me in meeting and establishing friendly dialogue with arms control experts from many countries, including Pakistan and China with whom India has had conflicts. Such contact has happened not only in the large annual Pugwash conferences but also in the specialized focussed meetings that Pugwash had arranged from time to time.This was especially important to me when, after having spent four decades entirely devoted to pure physics, I started to enlarge my work to include arms control and nuclear policy issues. “
