Götz Neuneck is Chair of the Federation of German Scientists (VDW) and Chair of the Pugwash Council. Until 2019, he was Deputy Director of the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy IFSH at the University of Hamburg and Head of the Interdisciplinary Research Group Arms Control and Disarmament (IFAR²). Trained as a physicist at the University Düsseldorf, he received his PhD. in mathematics at the University of Hamburg. Since 2007 he is a Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences at the University of Hamburg. Since 2001 he is also a speaker of the Working Group “Physics and Disarmament” of the German Physical Society
