Karen Hallberg (Argentina), PhD in Physics, is Secretary General of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs. She is an Associate Professor of Physics at the Balseiro Institute, and Principal Researcher at the Bariloche Atomic Center, National Atomic Energy Agency and National Research Council, Argentina. She is an Institute Associate of the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences and corresponding member of the Argentine Academy for Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences. She was awarded the 2019 L’Oreal-UNESCO International Prize For Women in Science for Latin America. She holds two honorary doctorates, is a former Board Member of the American Physical Society and a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Councils on the Future of Quantum Economy and Next-Generation Computing.
